Two charged after assault, electric bike theft in downtown Orillia

Police say a man with a knife assaulted a person at 6 a.m. Sunday; two Orillians are facing multiple charges in the incident

Two Orillians are facing multiple charges after a robbery downtown Sunday.

Orillia OPP say a knife-wielding man assaulted a person in a downtown Orillia parking lot at 6 a.m. on Nov. 17 and stole his e-bike.

After searching the area, the police were able to identify the suspects. Just after 2 p.m., officers managed to arrest the two.

Amanda Hustler, 37, of Orillia was charged with robbery with a weapon and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Christopher Draper, 40, also of Orillia, was charged with robbery with a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failure to comply with release order, failure to comply with probation order, uttering threats (caused bodily harm) and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both parties were held pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
