The corrupt cop who reenacted George Floyd’s murder has resigned

Last month, we reported on Steve Williams, a Wisconsin police officer who was also a substitute teacher in Minnesota, who thought he was a good idea to spew racist and sexist comments, say police brutality didn’t exist, and do a re-enactment of George Floyd’s murder, using one of the students:

Williams told the Woodbury teenagers that “police brutality is not real,” according to the letter.

He is accused of twisting a student’s arm behind his back and showing pressure points on his chin and face.

Williams repeatedly made racially damaging comments and sexist jokes, the letter said. He also mimed holding a gun and pointing it at students while sharing disturbing details about previous police investigations, according to the letter.

Williams said that “cops would be the best criminals” and that they “know how to get away with things,” the letter states.

He was immediately banned from school and fired by the company that hired him as a substitute teacher.

Now, after an investigation, the Prescott Police Department has decided it’s time for Williams to leave the force. However, they let him resign instead of being fired:

A Wisconsin police officer who re-enacted George Floyd’s killing of a student while he was substitute teaching at a school in Woodbury, Minnesota, has resigned.

Steven Williams’ last day on the job at the Prescott Police Department is Friday. The documents say he resigned in lieu of termination. The separation agreement also states that the city will not rehire him.

The problem with letting Williams resign is that he will be able to apply to another police department without any red flags, thus allowing him to continue his troubled ways.
