‘Wellness music with roots in India’: Ricky Kej hopes to win fourth Grammy Award

Indian musician Ricky Kej is extremely happy to have received his fourth Grammy nomination.
His album “Break of Dawn” was nominated for Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
Hoping to win his fourth award, Ricky Kej told ANI via a voice note, “I have already won three Grammys in the past and this is my fourth nomination, which I hope will lead to my fourth win. I have been a lifelong environmentalist and I have always believed that our ancient Indian culture teaches us that the impurities of the environment are directly related to the impurities of the mind. So in order to solve any problem we face as a species, we must first purify our minds.

“And Break of Dawn was created by me with this belief in mind as a catalyst to create a better, more compassionate and environmentally conscious society through the power of music. So Break of Dawn is a new age album. It is based on old Indian rags. Each of the nine songs on Break of Dawn was based on an ancient Indian cloth. It has been carefully crafted to promote mental health and wellness and focuses on wellness music rooted in India. I am very grateful for this honor of receiving my fourth Grammy nomination,” he added.
In 2015, Ricky Kej took home his first Grammy Award for his album “Winds of Samsara”, which was honored as the best New Age record of the year. In 2022 and 2023, he received the Grammy Award for the second and third time respectively.
The Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
