The Empire State Building will sparkle to announce live election results tonight in New York

The Empire State Building’s state-of-the-art lighting and technology is constantly used by the institution to celebrate festivals, honor historical events, and raise awareness of important social issues.

Tonight, the iconic building will indirectly participate in the presidential election, illuminating the famous tower lights in red, white and blue as the results of the swing states come in. As those specific numbers come in, the building will glow red for five minutes if the Republican nominee, Donald Trump, wins the swing state. A five-minute blue glow will signify a victory for the Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris.

Once the final results are announced (note that this could take several days, according to experts), the building will remain illuminated in one of two colors.
