PAGASA – The State Weather Bureau reported that Typhoon Marce is maintaining its maximum intensity as it approaches Cagayan.

On Thursday (November 7, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Marce will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Benison Estareja reported that Typhoon Marce is set to make landfall over the Babuyan Islands as signal no. 4 remains in two areas.

Marce was last seen 200 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 190 km/h. It is moving west northwest at a speed of 15 km/h.

“In terms of intensity, it will remain strong or still in the typhoon category. It is now at a maximum intensity of about 155 km/h. It will weaken slightly while here at the northern tip of mainland Luzon, and eventually, as it exits the Philippine Area of ​​Responsibility (PAR), further weaken into a severe tropical storm. Estareja said.

The typhoon will bring heavy to torrential rains over Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Norte and heavy to heavy rains over Batanes, Ilocos Sur, Abra. Kalinga, La Union, Isabela, Mountain Province will have moderate to heavy rains.

The weather agency also advised residents in affected areas to take precautions for possible flooding or landslides due to heavy to heavy rains and strong storms.

PAGASA also raised a storm warning over the coast of Northern Luzon and Central Luzon.

Marce is set to exit the Philippine Region of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow evening (November 8, 2024) after passing over the Babuyan Islands and/or the northern portions of mainland Cagayan, Ilocos Norte and Apayao.
