This London studio could be yours for £850 – but the toilet looks like a ‘prison’

from derelict houses selling for almost £2,000,000 to a £10,000 flat with a lease expiring fasthis brutality London the real estate market never ceases to shock us.

Now, the one the rental market has been supplemented with a listing that sees a studio flat – albeit for the relatively cheap price of £850 a month – missing a crucial detail.

Who needs privacy, really? If that’s a mindset you can get past, then this could be the property for you, because it’s not a door that closes off the toilet: it’s a curtain. Yes, a shower curtain. You read correctly.

Marketed by OpenRent and advertised on Rightmovethe list seems to be relatively compact. The nature of a studio apartment is that everything is contained within the same space – and this property is no exception.

Here you will find the kitchen cupboards (complete with hob and oven) right next to the desk, wardrobe and bunk bed with storage underneath.

Then things start to get a little weird as we see a freestanding shower (no tub due to space constraints, understandably) and a toilet made private by little more than a gray shower curtain with a huge gap at the top .

How’s that for hygiene levels? Right next to the kitchen, too.

But for London, the list is not a bad deal. Conformable statistics from Zooplathe average monthly rent for the Big Smoke is currently £2,121 per month, having grown by 4.2% in the past year alone.

And at £850 a month, that’s more than £1,000 below the market average, which is arguably a steal. If you’re willing to give up any hope of dignity when doing your job, that is.

However, as the studio is only suitable for single occupancy, you’ll have enough privacy when you’re home alone, at least. But if you want to have guests over for dinner, you might need to let them know in advance.

In terms of transport, it’s also well-equipped, being just five minutes from West London’s Shepherd’s Bush tube station, as well as a five-minute walk from both Westfield shopping center and Lidl. What else would you need?

As is the inevitable fate of many quirky London property listings, it made its way onto Found on Rightmove Reddit thread – and not everyone was impressed.

“What’s that dear… do you have the shits? No… haven’t heard anything,’ laughed @Mysterious_Swan9676 in the comments section.

“It’s all bloody disgusting.” What the hell is that toilet and bed? London or don’t they have some shame owners ffs,” @Phyllida_Poshtart added, as @Severe-Stress-329 described the list as “truly appalling”.

For @TheFirstMinister it crossed the line as they claimed they had “spent time in bigger and more hygienic prison cells than this”, a position that @Otherwise-Extreme-68 agreed with, writing: “Even in prison you get a door.’
