MESA, Ariz. – Five people died in a plane crash shortly after takeoff from Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport Tuesday afternoon.

Flames and smoke billowed from the crash at the nearby airport Greenfield and McKellips roads around 16:40 on November 5. Authorities say the plane crashed into a car.

The five people on board who died have not been identified.

“Our community suffered a tragic loss this afternoon. We had a plane take off from Falon Field Airport in Mesa and upon takeoff crash into a single vehicle on Greenfield Road,” the spokesman said of the Mesa Fire and Medical Department, Marrisa Ramirez-Ramos. .

The NTSB, FAA, Mesa Fire and Medical and the Mesa Police Department are investigating.
