A Loveland man and a 17-year-old boy have both been charged with attempted murder after a shooting spree over the weekend.

Shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday, the Loveland Emergency Communications Center received a call about a shooting that had just occurred in the 1000 block of East Fifth Street, according to a Tuesday morning Facebook post from the department; The caller said a family member’s home had also just been shot up outside the Loveland city limits. A second person filed a gun complaint in the 1400 block of Platte Street, saying they didn’t know if shots had been fired at their home but heard multiple gunshots.

Officers located the vehicle of interest and conducted a high-risk traffic stop in the 2300 block of Greeley Drive on the west side of Loveland. The vehicle was occupied by two adults and a 17-year-old boy who were eventually taken into custody without incident, according to the post; while searching the vehicle, officers also found a gun inside.

Upon further investigation, detectives developed probable cause to arrest one of the adult suspects, identified as Robert Jacobs, 20, of Loveland. He was booked into the Larimer County Jail in Fort Collins on multiple felony charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder with a weapon, a Class 2 felony; two counts of aggravated retaliation against a witness or victim, a Class 3 felony; furnishing a handgun to a minor, a Class 4 felony; and two counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm, a Class 5 felony.

He remains in custody at the jail with no bond set and is scheduled to appear before 8th Judicial District Magistrate Jill Sage on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. for bond to be set.

The 17-year-old was also taken into custody and booked into the Platte Valley Youth Detention Center on two counts of attempted first-degree murder with a weapon, a Class 2 felony; two counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm, a Class 5 felony; and possession of a handgun by a minor, a class 2 misdemeanor.

The third person in the vehicle was released without charge.

LPD included in its release that the three shootings occurred within a span of about 30 minutes and that the suspects knew the targeted victims, adding that there is no reason to believe there is an ongoing danger to the community.
