Samaritan’s Purse is collecting gift-filled children’s shoe boxes for Christmas this week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Volunteers across the country are collecting Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts this week for those suffering from war, poverty, disease and disaster.

Operation Christmas Child is asking people to fill shoeboxes with toys, school supplies and hygiene products. It is operated by Samaritan’s Purse as a tangible way to demonstrate God’s love.

Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 220 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 170 countries and territories. This year, Operation Christmas Child hopes to reach an additional 12 million children.

This week is National Collection Week for those shoe boxes. There are a number of drop-off locations in this area where boxes will be picked up and dropped off. Find a location near you on Samaritan’s Purse website.

All Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes will be collected by November 25th.
