Tamara Ecclestone says motherhood makes women ‘so cruel to each other’, admits her ‘mind boggles’ at the thought of her dad Bernie becoming a father again at 89 and reveals how the £25m burglary pounds from her house affected her children.

Tamara Ecclestone said her mind was “wandering” at the thought of her father Bernie having another child at 89 and revealed a darker side of motherhood.

The 40-year-old British model and F1 heiress has spoken out for the first time since thieves ransacked her home five years ago, making off with £25m of diamonds and other valuables.

But opening up about her father Bernie Ecclestone, who had his fourth child in 2020 aged 89, she said: “It boggles the mind” with his eldest child aged 69.

The Formula 1 boss welcomed his son Ace into the world with Fabiana Flosi, his third wife, and a Brazilian model 46 years his junior.

Fabiana revealed at the time that she enjoyed an easy labour, saying: ‘Everything was so easy. The birth ended after 25 minutes. I thank God’.

Tamara – who is married to art mogul Jay Rutland, with whom she has a daughter named Sophia – said she was “absolutely delighted” for her father when Ace was born.

After being told her father was expecting another child, Tamara told the Mail On Sunday she was “surprised but not totally blindsided”.

Tamara, who revealed they were told at a family lunch, said: “We had no idea what was going on. I thought we were meeting dad and Fabi for a meal. We were full of food when Fabiana told us.

– My husband missed it. said, “Wait a minute, what’s going on? Did I miss something?

Always keen to treat his offspring equally, Bernie immediately called his youngest daughter, Petra, who was pregnant with her fourth child and living in Los Angeles.

Tamara said: “He wanted us all to know at the same time, it was all done very diplomatically.”

But turning away from her father, she opened to The Times about her own experiences with motherhood and how she is still breastfeeding her four-year-old.

“People often ask, ‘How long are you going to breastfeed Serena?’ And I say, ‘just until it’s over,'” she said.

“There are stigmas about everything: breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, going to work, not going to work, having a C-section, not having a C-section.

Women can be so cruel to each other, which I find bizarre.

On 13 December 2019, Tamara, her husband and daughter Sophia were in Lapland when three thieves broke in and stole £25 million worth of jewelery and cash from her home on ‘Billionaire’s Row’ in Kensington.

In just over an hour, the burglars cleared the mansion of 400 pieces of jewelry and large sums of cash.

In November 2022, Italians Jugoslav Jovanovic, Alessandro Maltese and Alessandro Donati were sentenced to a total of 28 years in prison at Isleworth Crown Court after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary.

Following the convictions, an international manhunt was launched for the fourth man, named in court as Daniel Vukovic.

“It’s actually quite hard to talk about it because my daughter now has access to Google and I lied to her when it happened because she was young, but she found out anyway,” Tamara told the paper.

The gang also ransacked the London homes of Frank Lampard, the former Chelsea midfielder, and Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the late billionaire owner of Leicester City.

Tamara revealed that she now goes everywhere with two bodyguards for fear of being kidnapped, as her 5ft 4in father has been the victim of several break-ins.

“(The break-in) definitely made me feel like things aren’t always what they seem, people you think you can trust, you can’t always trust, which is a lesson I’ve learned time and time again . This time it really hit home,’ she said.
