Firefighters responded to the home in the 900 block of West Sweet Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The flames spread to the kitchen cabinets, but the fire was quickly contained, according to the Bismarck Fire Department.

The family was safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. There was fire damage to the kitchen and smoke and heat damage to surrounding rooms, the department said. The fire was considered accidental.
