KUWAIT CITY, Nov 17: The Supreme Council for Family Affairs is working to activate all its committees in addition to preparing a comprehensive work plan for shelters and protection centers; including campaigns on the Protection from Violence Act and the Child Act to raise public awareness of laws that protect the family and society.

Sources confirmed that the council is coordinating with the Bureau of Social Development to create psychological and social programs according to approved standards for dealing with cases of violence. Sources said this was in line with leadership directives on the importance of concerted efforts between the two parties to ensure effective and comprehensive support for those affected by domestic violence. Sources revealed that the council is working hard to activate the role of psychological and social specialists and develop the skills of professionals in these fields by organizing training courses to increase the efficiency of employees assigned to protection centers, as well as monitoring the work of joint commissions. whose members come from parties or entities involved in cases of violence and to automate procedures to ensure effective work flow.

Regarding the working mechanisms of the protection centers and ways of dealing with abused women, the sources explained that the council has protection centers for abused women in Ahmadi and Khaitan. They said these centers are run by the most capable staff who provide comprehensive care and support to those affected by domestic violence. They added that these centers rely on a team of nationally qualified professionals in the psychological, social and legal fields to guarantee the provision of the best services and handle cases professionally, in line with the council’s commitment to provide a safe environment and encouraging. for abused women.

Sources also confirmed the establishment of similar centers in all governorates, stressing that the council is keen to provide integrated protection in cooperation with all other authorities involved to achieve the desired family and childhood goals. On the board’s work plan and activities, sources disclosed that it conducts training programs for employees regularly posted at the centers to upskill and update them with new methodologies; besides organizing workshops on women’s empowerment, a special initiative for functional and academic skilling of abused women and a comprehensive program to celebrate World Children’s Day.
