Guwahati: Two employees were found dead on the premises of a bakery in Assam’s Nagaon district early on Sunday morning.
Nagaon Police Station OC Debajit Das said the two persons were hit with blows. They were hit repeatedly on the head, causing their death. “These people were beaten with a wooden rolling pin. The incident took place around 2.30 am,” the OC said.
The officer added that the deceased have been identified as Uttam Das and Abhijit Saha. The perpetrator, identified as Indraneel Saha, is also an employee of the same bakery on Shankardev road in Nagaon.
“Indraneel is currently under interrogation. As far as we have heard from him, the incident took place due to an argument between them while they were under the influence of alcohol,” the officer added.
The officer said they were tipped off by the bakery owner’s mother. When she reached the shop and found Indraneel sitting there next to the dead bodies, she informed the police. “Though Saha has confessed everything, we are still investigating the matter as we suspect there is more to the incident,” the officer added.
A forensic team from Guwahati was briefed about the case and asked to conduct a detailed assessment of the crime scene and collect evidence.
Following the incident, the bodies were sent for post-mortem to the Nagaon Medical College to establish the cause of death. Accordingly, an FIR will be filed.
