Inside Strictly Come Dancing Celebrities’ £80-a-night Blackpool Hotel | Celebrity News | Showbiz and TV

The cast, crew, presenters and judges of Strictly Come Dancing are no strangers to loud cheers, occasional screams and heaps of fun.

However, waking up to the sight of a rollercoaster whizzing past their windows could be a new experience for them. That could have been the case when Strictly made its big return to Blackpool in 2022 after a three-year hiatus.

Most of the production team, including the celebrities and their professional partners, stayed at the Big Blue Hotel, located just off Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Some rooms are just a stone’s throw from roller coaster tracks, including the Big One and the Big Dipper. The hotel has an excellent location, just a short walk from the seafront and is open all year round.

Owned by the same company that runs the neighboring £12m luxury Boulevard Hotel, where the former Prime Minister Boris Johnson lodged earlier this year, the Big Blue Hotel takes its name from its blue exterior and some interior features, reports Lancs Live.

However, don’t expect an overwhelming nautical theme (apart from the massive fish tank in reception and the pits in the corridors), as much of the interior also has a retro 70s brown color. Here’s everything you need to know about the four-star Big Blue Hotel, from its rates to what’s on the breakfast menu.

How much does it cost to stay the night?

For those looking to enjoy a mid-week getaway, a standard double room at Big Blue will set you back £80, including a £99 trip if you opt for breakfast.

However, weekend stays see a significant price increase, coinciding with the theme park winter weekends in November and the start of the Christmas festivities.

A standard double room rises to £195 or £180 with breakfast. For £225, guests can have a room and a coveted Pleasure Beach pass.

If space is a priority, deluxe rooms start from £185 per night and family-friendly rooms from £195 at weekends. For added luxury, king-size suites start from £300 per night.

Delicious breakfast buffet

Back to the first meal of the day, Strictly stars such as Kym Marsh, Hamza Yassin, Will Mellor, Helen Skelton and Fleur East started their day with a rich British breakfast buffet at the hotel’s restaurant or perhaps opted for the convenience of room service.

Blues Bar and Brasserie offers a range of breakfast delights including freshly cooked lean meats, perfectly fried eggs and scrambled eggs, an assortment of pastries, fruit, cereals, various juices and staples of tea, coffee and toast .

In a recent review after a stay, LancsLive praised the Big Blue’s breakfast, they said: “The bacon and sausages were hot, lean and still sizzling without leaving excessive grease on the plate.

“The fried eggs were cooked to perfection, while the omelette was fluffy and creamy and subtly seasoned with salt and pepper.” There was even applause for the infamous “conveyor belt loaf.”

They shared, “We didn’t have to risk sending it back to the inevitable charred black death, which is what usually happens when it comes out looking anemic after the first run. Result.”

The luxurious hotel is located a few minutes from the promenade and a few steps from a tram stop. It’s also around five minutes’ walk from South Pier and Sandcastle Waterpark.

Rooms at the back of the hotel overlook Pleasure Beach, while those at the front overlook the car park. The hotel offers a range of packages including theater tickets and entry to themed parties.

It has a gym, residents’ bar and 24-hour reception.
