WOLCOTT, Conn. (WFSB) – Wolcott Police are looking for a suspect who tried to rob a Rite Aid and successfully robbed a Cumberland Farms across the street.

Police say they responded to the Rite Aid on Wolcott Road last night after a report that someone tried to rob the store and said they had a gun.

Shortly after this call, Cumberland Farms across the street reported being robbed by a man who said he had a gun.

The suspect did not leave the Rite Aid with anything, but instead stole about $300 and a pack of cigarettes from Cumberland Farms.

Although the suspect said he had a gun, a gun was never shown.

“A description was given to Waterbury (police) and surrounding stores were notified of the incidents,” police said.

A description of the suspect was not provided.

Wolcott Police say they are investigating.
