Rancho Santa Fe Scout Troop 766 holds Court of Honor – San Diego Union-Tribune

Rancho Santa Fe Troop 766 held its Court of Honor on October 28 at the Village Church. Band membership increases with grasslands, with a strong emphasis on outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. Ten Scouts advanced in rank from Scout to Life Scout, and a total of 162 merit badges were awarded to 23 deserving Scouts, according to a press release.

Todd Gloria, San Diego’s 37th mayor, spoke to the Scouts about leadership. He shared moving experiences and life lessons, many of which sparked his interest in public service. He encouraged Scouts to actively participate in civic life, noting that passionate young people can impact decision-making in their troop, their town and even their country. During an engaging question-and-answer session, scouts quizzed him on everything from his early interest in politics to his biggest challenges as mayor.

BSA Troop 766 is a scout-led organization for boys between the ages of 11 and 17 and has been in Rancho Santa Fe for 46 years. In 2022, the Rotary Club of Rancho Santa Fe chartered the band. The principles of Rotary International and Scouts BSA are closely aligned; service above self, leadership and becoming global citizens are all embedded in the programs and activities of each organization. Troop 766 gratefully acknowledges the support of all local Rotarians. Those interested in the troop can contact [email protected].
