WHELING, Ill. – A man fatally shot a Wheel the weekend bar was identified by the police.

Officers responded to the Social Bar and Grill at 401 E. Dundee Rd. around 2 a.m. Saturday following reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, they found Jacob Taylor, 24, of Hampshire, Illinoiswith gunshot wounds and transported him to Lutheran General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police that Taylor was involved in a struggle before the shooting occurred. The criminal fled from the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

On Thursday, police confirmed that a person of interest had been taken into custody, but no further details were provided.
