Bay District Schools approves the 2025-2026 school year calendar

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – On Tuesday, Bay District Schools held a board meeting and approved the new calendar for the 2025-2026 school year.

Next school year, students will start school on Mondays instead of Wednesdays as in years past. Schools will also have a 4-day fall break during Columbus Day, starting the Friday before and ending that Monday.

It’s the first time students and staff in Bay District schools will have a fall break.

The board also approved the Friday before Christmas week to be off so students and staff could leave early for Christmas break.

“We start as early as we can, because if we start early, we’ll be out early. Parents are always wondering when we’re going to start school and when we’re going to let out because they want to plan their vacations and whatever, so we’re trying to finish this calendar, I voted. this today to get out to parents as soon as possible,” said Bay District Schools President Steve Moss.

In addition, the school board approved a draft of the 2026-2027 school year calendar and will post it on their website this week.
