Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm comes out after blocking the shot in the win against the Blues

The Bruins lost Hampus Lindholm to a lower-body injury late in the first period of Tuesday night’s 3-2 win over the Blues when the defenseman blocked a shot during a Blues power play.

Lindholm limped to the bench and was clearly working before testing himself with a short skate in the next timeout. Then he hurried down the tunnel and never came back.

“You don’t have an update on him,” coach Jim Montgomery said. “We will have more clarification (Wednesday).”

The rest of the defense increased their ice time, with Charlie McAvoy (25:08), Nikita Zadorov (22:07) and Brandon Carlo (21:55) leading the way.

“The rotation itself is not difficult. (Assistant coach Jay Leach) is doing a good job, we know who’s going to come in and fall into a little bit of a rhythm. Moreover, just the fatigue of playing a little more. So that’s it,” McAvoy said. “But I think a big part of what we’ve done is you don’t lose energy going down. We stayed positive, we stayed to find joy in the situation and the challenge and we enjoyed it, we came back and won and that was awesome.”

The Bruins play at Dallas on Thursday, so it’s likely a defenseman will be called up from Providence on Wednesday.
