PATERSON — A man wearing what authorities described as women’s sweatpants broke into the Brownstone banquet hall and stole a Glock 27 handgun from the office, police said.

The break-in was reported to have occurred on the night of October 15, which would have been hours after one of the co-owners of The Brownstone, Thomas Manzo, was sentenced to seven years in prison in federal prison.

Manzo had been convicted because an alleged member of organized crime attacked his ex-wife’s now ex-boyfriend, former Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dina Cantin.

Police officials said the break-in was not reported until Oct. 26. As of Monday afternoon, the gun had not been recovered. But the Paterson Police Department said it has filed charges — including unlawful possession of a weapon, burglary and theft — against a 37-year-old Wayne man in connection with the murder.

Police reports did not say how the thief broke into the brownstone complex on West Broadway. Police are using surveillance video of the suspected thief to try to track him down.

Authorities described him as someone who appears to be homeless and is known to hang around the areas of West Broadway, Chamberlain Avenue and Ryerson Avenue.

The man was wearing a black hooded jacket with orange lining, a “native pattern hooded sweatshirt,” women’s black “Roz” sweatpants and black sneakers, police said. The man had a beard and “slightly reddish complexion,” according to authorities.

Paterson police are asking anyone with information to call the Major Crimes Division at 973-321-1120.
