Girish Dighavkar, senior inspector, Cantonment police, said, “Dup has been booked earlier in similar cases by Pune, Thane, Mumbai, Satara and Sindhudurg city police stations. The pair entered the jewelery shop posing as customers and stole small jewelery items such as earrings and rings, distracting the shopkeeper on 31 October. Following a complaint, we scrutinized the CCTV footage and traced the two, who had fled the shop on a two-wheeler. , from Mundhwa. While they were not present in their house, we laid a trap and later nabbed them from the area.”
