Only 1 in 5 Americans believe Trump will try to fulfill all of his campaign promises

One in five Americans trust the president-elect Donald Trump will try to fulfill all the promises he made during his campaign, a new poll shows.

After Trump’s election day victory, attention turned to what actions the 47th president will take when he takes office.

His main campaign targets included the economy and immigration throughout his run for the White House promised a series of actions he said he would serve in his second term.

According to a YouGov survey conducted Thursday, 21 percent of Americans said they believed Trump would keep his word on all the issues he said he would fix as president.

More than a quarter of Americans said they think Trump will implement most of the policies he proposed during his campaign, while 9% said they don’t think he will follow through on any of his promises.

The survey surveyed 4,245 Americans online, allowing respondents to take the survey on a phone, tablet or computer whenever they chose to do so.

The poll found that more men believed Trump would either try to implement all or most of his policies, while more women believed he would not try to fulfill any of his promises.

Based on election day voting dataTrump had the support of a large share of male American voters, with a 6 percentage point lead over Harris among men 45 and older and a 6 point lead among men 18 to 45 year old.

Overall, Trump supporters were mostly 45 or older, with 62 percent in this age group. The same demographic was also the age group that most widely believed Trump would try to enact all of his policies, at 55 percent.

The survey also showed that republicans largely believed the former president would try to carry out most or all of his campaign policies, at 73 percent.

About one in five Democrats thought Trump would try to implement some of his policies, but over a third thought he would only try to implement some or none of his proposals during his campaign.

Fifty-two percent of white voters said they think the president-elect will try to implement most or all of his campaign promises. Forty-six percent of Hispanic respondents said the same, and 37 percent of black respondents agreed.
