Palm Bay police are investigating after several people were injured in a machete attack Thursday night.

Lt. Virginia Kilmer, a spokeswoman for the department, said officers responded to a vacant lot near Habitat for Humanity at 4515 S Babcock St. just before 9 p.m. after reports that four people were injured in the attack, which took place nearby. a homeless camp.

The exact condition of the victims was not known Friday morning, but Kilmer reported that none suffered life-threatening injuries and that all were expected to recover.

As of Friday morning, no arrests had been made and police were still investigating. Kilmer said the attack was an isolated incident between people who were known to each other and there was no threat to the public.

“Not many of the people involved are cooperating at this point, so we haven’t gathered enough useful information to make an arrest,” Kilmer said.
