Accidental shooting in Rochester apartment leads to arrest

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM news)- A man has been arrested after an apparent accidental shooting at a Rochester apartment.

That’s according Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson.

Officers were dispatched to the report of a gun being discharged shortly before noon Thursday morning. dragging took place at an apartment in the 1000 block of 41st St. Northwest.

Police have arrested a man who unloaded a gun he was cleaning in a Rochester apartment

Responding officers found the man suspected of pulling the trigger upon arrival. He was identified as Keith Sachwitz, 45 years old.

Sachwitz told officers he was cleaning the gun when it accidentally discharged police report say. No injuries were reported.

Grayson says Sachwitz is prohibited from possessing a firearm. The Rochester man was later arrested.

Olmsted County Adult Detention Center Records indicates Sachwitz was booked on suspicion of reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality and possession of a firearm as a person convicted of a violent crime.
