Near-record highs on Friday, followed by a cold snap over the weekend

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – Partly mostly sunny skies ahead with near record heat ahead of a big weekend cooldown.

  • Friday near record highs
  • Great weekend recreation
  • Looking at Sunday for a possible gloomy day

Friday is shaping up to be an unseasonably warm day with near-record highs. Temperatures top out in the mid 70s and 80s. The record high at GSP is 82° and the record high in Asheville is 78°, so we’re only two or three degrees off.

Saturday’s highs drop about 10° to the mid to low 60s, which is more in line with normal highs for early November. It’s another dry day with a mix of sun and clouds. But Sunday brings a big change.

We are waiting for a plume to establish over the western Carolinas. This would lead to a gloomy Sunday with cloudy skies, patches of fog and patchy drizzle and even light rain.

Plus, it’s much cooler, with highs in the 50s and 60s. Plumes are difficult to predict, but right now, the signals are there. We’ll let you know if that changes as we get closer to the weekend.
