Get this rugged PowerColor RX 7900 XT for just £620 from Overclockers

AMD’s RX 7900 XT launched at a staggering nearly £800, and thankfully we’ve seen the prices of this GPU come down to much more acceptable levels. An example is this current sale from Overclockers on this PowerColor Hellhound variant, which has seen a significant price cut of £180 from its £800 retail price to bring it down to £620, which is seriously solid business.

The fact is that the 7900 XT is a powerful graphics card for 1440p and 4K gaming, regardless of the price. In our 7900 XT reviewwe found its performance to be comparable to Nvidia’s high-end RTX 3080 and 3080 Ti, and it holds up well against the 4080. It’s actually a bit behind the 4070 Super in RT-based workloads, but ahead in the Control genre, compared to the 4070 Super and non-Super 4070 Ti at 1440p. In Doom Eternal, we recorded an average 4K frame rate of over 200 fps, while in the most demanding F1 22 i saw over 150 fps. Gear wheels 5Control and Red Dead Redemption 2 they were all comfortably above 60fps at 4K, even with the settings on.

In addition to being a great card for 1440p and 4K gaming, the 7900 XT also comes with a solid complement of features that make it a formidable choice for content creation workloads. There is support for AMD’s new media engine, which provides support for AV1 encoding. Moreover, the 7900 XT also comes with support for both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1, the latter being a future-looking display standard that could give the 7900 XT better utility as they new high resolution displays and refresh launched.

This particular Hellhound model is also one of the more left-field options compared to other options, with a gray color scheme that is accentuated by bright blue lighting on the card’s three-fan cooling setup. It’s quite an interesting look and would pair well in a black build for a pop of color or if you’re going for a more sinister look.

At £600, the RX 7900 XT becomes a much more compelling buy, especially with Nvidia’s Super cards in mind. If you’re after a great GPU for 1440p and 4K gaming, then this is definitely a bargain to consider.
