Clipper fans boo Paul George during Sixer star’s homecoming game in LA

His fans Los Angeles Clippers made it known how they felt about Paul George leaving for Philadelphia when he faced his former team for the first time at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood on Wednesday night.

In 2021, George sat alongside teammate Kawhi Leonard as the Clippers took the floor in their new arena during what was then known as the team’s 213 era. By the end of last season, there wasn’t much indication that George would be playing anywhere else until the arena opened.

Over the summer, negotiations between George and the Clippers fell through, as did other possible trades such as the one that would have sent him to Golden State. By July 1, the NBA world was stunned when he signed a max deal with the Sixers.

Before Wednesday night’s game, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue described his time working with George as “great.”

“You’ve got a two-way player like PG who does it on both ends. You know, basically (we have) big shots to help us get to the … conference finals. So we’ve got some great years with him, Lue said.

George, who spent five seasons with the Clippers, was one of the faces of the franchise. However, the fans didn’t exactly show their appreciation during his return and instead he was booed by Wall fans throughout the game.

Wednesday’s game wasn’t all about “Podcast P” as both teams were eager for victory. The 76ers have won just one game so far this season because Joel Embiid has yet to play and George made his season debut on Monday after being sidelined with an injury to start the season. Meanwhile, the Clippers finally won their first game in their new home on Monday against the San Antonio Spurs.

The Clippers won Wednesday night’s game 110-98.

The Clippers were able to build on that momentum with five players finishing in double figures – Amir Coffey, James Harden, Derrick Jones Jr., Terance Mann, Kevin Porter Jr. and Ivica Zubac.

“When you have to hit guys in double figures, it means you’re playing the right way,” Lue said after the game.
