Domestic violence incident leads to officer-involved shooting

Two people are injured after an officer-involved shooting stemming from a domestic violence incident in South Omaha.

Although police are investigating the incident, they believe the woman may have been held against her will in a closet.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call Wednesday around 5:30 p.m South 43rd and Frances Street.

When they arrived, officers say they heard gunshots and a woman screaming from a closet. OPD officers “immediately opened the closet door” and two of them fired their weapons, a report said.

The woman was removed from the closet and hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The man is in hospital with extremely serious injuries.

New details Thursday on Omaha HS teacher shooting

Thursday, we await new details about the shooting of an Omaha high school teacher. at her home in Sarpy County.

Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis is holding a news conference at 10:30 a.m. to release what the investigation has found so far.

Rebecca Geiger He was reportedly shot and killed by her husband Rory on October 28 in what started as a domestic violence incident.

“There were gunshots initiated by a subject inside the home – through the glass window. One of our officers returned fire,” Davis said in an update.

Rory was resuscitated but pronounced dead.

Mrs. Geiger had just started her 10th grade at Westside High School.

Vargas and Bacon have yet to be summoned

The winner of the close race between Rep. Don Bacon and State Sen. Tony Vargas for the 2nd Congressional District it has not been officially announced yet.

However, Bacon has claimed victory as final voter counts are pending.

In their latest updateAP has Bacon at 51.4% and Vargas at 48.6%.

Vargas led the totals slightly in the final hours of election night, but Wednesday morning’s totals pointed to submission Bacon back to Washington.

The rematch between the two candidates unfolded in a manner reminiscent of same race two years ago.

What’s Next for Medical Marijuana in Nebraska?

Both of Nebraska’s medical marijuana measures have adopted after Tuesday’s vote — but the matter is not yet fully decided.

More than 70% of Nebraskans voted in favor of legalizing medical marijuana. However, Judge Susan Strong is expected to rule on the validity of petition signatures this month.

“For every ten Nebraskans who voted, seven said yes, and it didn’t matter if those votes came from rural or urban areas. East Nebraska, West Nebraska, the city, the country — all strongly support the initiative,” says reporter Brian Mastre.

A decision must be made before the results are certified on December 2. If even 3,500 signatures are determined to be contaminatedtuesday results may be cancelled.

Biden will deliver remarks Thursday after Trump’s victory

Donald Trump has regain the presidency.

In his first appearance since Trump’s victory, President Biden will make remarks on Thursday morning at approximately 10 am CT.

The AP reports that with Trump back, he will want an entirely new administration from Biden’s.

“The president-elect now has a term of 75 days the transition period to build his team before Inauguration Day arrives on Jan. 20,” AP says.

Republicans are looking to win the House

Republicans have gained control of the US Senate, announced Wednesday morning.

The AP reports that scrutiny of the US House of Representatives will take place back and forth between a Republican or Democratic majority.

“Several individual seats, or even one, will be determine the outcome. Final counts will take some time, likely pushing the decision into next week — or beyond,” the AP reports.
