2 dead, 1 injured in West Detroit recording studio shooting

DETROIT – Two people are dead and one person is injured after a shooting at a recording studio on Detroit’s west side.

The shooting happened Tuesday (Nov. 5) at 7 p.m. in the 15344 block of W. McNichols Road.

Officials said two men flagged them down while on patrol, saying two men had been shot at the recording studio.

“The incident is under control as it occurred this afternoon and there is no threat to the community as the shooting took place inside the location,” said Detroit Police Deputy Chief Jacqueline Pritchett.

Officers said they responded and entered the location to find three people shot, including a black and black woman deceased and another black man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The injured man was taken to a Metro Detroit hospital in critical condition.

“(The shooting) It should be scary for everybody because nobody wants to be in a neighborhood where people are getting shot,” Pritchett said. “The Detroit Police Department is capable. We are out here. We are heroes and I am confident that this crime can be solved.

A homicide task force is on the scene and looking at the Ring cameras at the door that might catch anyone leaving the scene of the shooting.

“If anybody saw anything, heard anything, please let us know,” Pritchett said. “If you see something, say something. You can call 1-800-Speak-Up, DetroitRewardsTV or call homicide at 313-596-2260.”
