One person is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a police chase ended in a “serious” crash.

The A370 near Flax Bourton is closed between its junctions with Stancombe Lane and Barrow Street following the collision at 02:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Avon and Somerset Police said the driver and passenger of a black BMW 5 Series were both taken to hospital and the drivers’ injuries were serious.

Police confirmed a marked police vehicle was immediately behind the car and the police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), was informed.
