HOUSTON – At least one person is dead after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole in south Houston Monday night.

It happened around 6:25 p.m. near the intersection of Natchez Street and Allegheny Street, just off Old Spanish Trail.

First responders arrived and found a vehicle behind a property at the location. Authorities say it appears the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Old Spanish Trail when it hit a light, went through the parking lot and hit the utility pole.

At least one person was found dead inside the vehicle.

Westbound lanes of Old Spanish Trail are closed between SH-288 and Allegheny Street at this time. Power to the block is also cut off as a result of the accident.
