Philly DA issues stark warning about election intimidation

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner issued a warning to anyone who might think of meddling in Election Day activities.

During a news conference Monday, Krasner highlighted the voter protection efforts of the election task force on the eve of Election Day.

“We are here on a very important day before a very important election. We are here more than anything to talk about election protection, making sure that tomorrow’s elections will be free. It’s going to be fair and it’s going to be final,” Krasner said.

Krasner said they have no “deep and lasting fears or concerns” about safety and assured the community that when they wake up to vote tomorrow they would be protected.

“I also want to be clear. Anyone who thinks it’s time to play militia, F around and find out,” Krasner said. “Whoever thinks it’s time to insult, abuse, threaten people, go around and find out.”

“We have a pair of handcuffs, us i have a jail cell and we have a jury in Philadelphia,” Krasner said, vowing to prosecute anyone who tries to interfere with the vote.

“So if you’re going to try to turn the election into a form of coercion, if you’re going to try to intimidate people, votes or voters, try to erase votes, try any nonsense. We don’t play around and find out,” Krasner said.

Krasner said he hopes they won’t be in trouble, but he also said they are concerned there may be people either working at or near the polls who will make frivolous and false challenges to voters.

“That’s the bottom line,” Krasner said. “Whoever thinks you’re going to play those games in Philadelphia, you’re going to do it in bad faith, I have no problem with you doing it in good faith, but if you do it in bad faith, there’s an election court, there’s judges, they have orders “.

During the last presidential election, two men, Antonio LaMotta, 61, and Joshua Macias, 42, of Chesapeake, Va., were arrested in Philadelphia with guns and ammunition outside the Pennsylvania Convention Center, where votes were being counted which ultimately won President Biden the White House. .

Krasner acknowledged that they are all aware of the controversy facing the US election and are making sure every vote is counted.

“But that’s my nonpartisan hat. We don’t care who gets your vote. We care that you can vote. That’s the most important thing,” Krasner said.

The FBI’s Philadelphia field office said it is also bringing in additional support and adding election command posts. The agency said it will enable every FBI field office across the country to streamline communication and response and ensure the safety and security of elections and the public.

Pennsylvania is expected to play a crucial role in the outcome of the presidential election, with 19 electoral college votes at stake.

“Pennsylvania is the only state where it’s hard to see someone lose and then win the presidential race,” Mark Harris, a longtime Republican national strategist in Pittsburgh, told Fox News. “It’s clearly ground zero.”

Both Trump and Harris are spending part of their last full day of campaigning in the Keystone State.
