ATO seeks new CIO amid changes in technology delivery – Cloud – Hardware – Network – Security – Software – Storage

The Australian Taxation Office has expanded its search for a new chief information officer to fill the role vacated by Ramez Katf earlier this year.

The ATO is looking for a new CIO amid technology delivery changes

The ATO late last week launched a recruitment drive for a single director to be both CIO and CSO, leading its enterprise solutions and technology group and overseeing both IT and cyber security leadership.

The role is expected to be filled by next month.

Katf has served as CIO since 2015, and in May 2017, added a second commissioner for enterprise solutions and technology to his role.

He left in April, coinciding with the ATO’s reshuffling of the CIO role from a second commissioner post to a senior “group three” executive position.

Former Deputy Commissioner for Strategy and Architecture Matthew Hay acts as CIO from May 2024.

The ATO said iTnews that the new CIO will “provide reliable, intuitive, contemporary and secure technology solutions that foster trust in the tax, pension and registry systems”.

The office’s cyber security delivery is currently overseen by CISO Dan Barron, while digital delivery is managed by Ben Foster, both being in acting roles.
