AURORA — A jury has found an Aurora man guilty of sexual assault after prosecutors say he supplied drugs to a victim before assaulting her in 2022.

Last Thursday, a jury found Ricardo Lemos, 42, of Aurora, guilty of felony sexual assault, according to Kane County Prosecutor Jamie Mosser.

In court, prosecutors alleged that on July 2, 2022, Lemos provided cocaine to the victim, who was an acquaintance at the time, before sexually assaulting her. Because of the drugs, the victim was unable to consent to sexual activity.

“The defendant exploited his relationship with this victim to sexually assault her. She didn’t rely on her strength to come forward and report this crime. Thank you to the victim and ASA Bridget Carlson, Victim Advocate Sheila Gray and Detective Benjamin Grabowski of the Aurora Police Department,” Assistant State’s Attorney Matthew Rodgers said.

Lemos, who remains in custody at the Kane County Jail, is due back in court on Dec. 20 for post-trial motions. He could face 4 to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and is not eligible for probation.
