Downtown Orlando shooting suspect skips court appearance; his mother did it

State’s Attorney Andrew Bain said shortly after the shooting that Edgar may be charged as an adult.

The judge ruled that the teenager will remain in juvenile detention until his next hearing. “He will be held in custody until his court hearing,” she said.

Attorney Albert Yonfa, who is unrelated to the case, said he expects prosecutors to charge Edgar as an adult.

“The state attorney has the right to directly charge this person as an adult, even if he is 17, because of the heinousness of the crime he is accused of,” he said.

Orlando police said gunfire was reported at 1:07 a.m. Friday in downtown Orlando, sending thousands of people running for cover. Three minutes later, officers heard gunshots a block away.

“So it’s one of those things where we need everybody’s help, but we’re going to continue to do what we’re doing, we’re going to continue to have strong security downtown and we’re going to have a big presence and we’re going to be ready for whatever comes.” he said. said.

Orlando police want photos or video of the shooting

Anyone with photos or video of the downtown shooting is asked to send it to the Orlando Police Department, who could help with its investigation.

Orlando mayor implements downtown curfew, restricts alcohol consumption after shooting

In response to the shooting, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer imposed a temporary curfew from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. in the downtown entertainment district.

He also ordered alcohol sales to end at midnight, he said. The ban and restriction on alcohol sales would last for a week, until next Friday.

Former Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolon said it’s a step in the right direction.

“Somewhere during this conversation, there has to be a pitch for some adjustments to how business is done in the downtown area,” he said.
