Muncy Target employee found dead in store | News, Sports, Jobs

PENNSDALE — A young female employee at Target, 170 S. Lycoming Mall Road, was found dead inside the store early Saturday morning, pinned between an elevator she had operated and an interior door frame, Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling said Jr. said Monday.

State police ruled the death accidental and identified the woman as Brianna Burley-Inners, 26, of South Williamsport, according to a news release.

“She was last seen at around 11.30pm on Friday by her colleagues. At midnight, as the employees were leaving, the lead closing employee radioed Burley-Inners to ask if she was on her way (to come through).” the police said.

When there was no response,

employees went to check on her, police said.

“She was later found bent over an elevator, her body trapped between the elevator and the wall of a door frame.” said the release.

One of the employees immediately called 911 around 12:10 p.m

Co-workers manually overcame the elevator to get the woman down so they could begin CPR, police said.

Pennsdale Volunteer Firefighters and UPMC paramedics arrived, but efforts to revive Burley-Inners were unsuccessful.

The woman was using the elevator near the pharmacy to clean the lenses of security cameras near the ceiling, Kiessling said his office was told.

Somehow she got stuck between the equipment and the door frame, Kiessling said. The accident was not witnessed by any other employees in the store, which was closed at the time, Kiessling said.

Police said in the press release “It was not clear how the incident happened. There were no signs of suspicious activity.”
