In response to the recent robberies, security has been beefed up in Islamabad, with police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel deployed outside banks. Two cash thefts took place yesterday at banks in sectors G-9 and G-14.

Banks have been instructed to change their security guards while police checkpoints have been set up at various points in the city.

Special checkpoints have been set up around the G-9 center, where people wearing helmets from motorcycle service companies are specifically searched.

Bags with suspicious persons are also checked. Police presence has also increased at Zero Point in Islamabad.

On the other hand, a case of murder has been registered in Islamabad after a citizen was killed during the robbery of a cash van from the bank. The case was filed at the Karachi Company police headquarters by the cousin of the deceased.

The daylight robberies left one dead and seven injured

Earlier, one man was killed and seven others were injured two daylight bank robberies in the federal capital. In addition, residents have faced 26 separate incidents of street crime and theft, with local police yet to arrest any suspects.

The first robbery took place at the National Bank on Peshawar Mor, where a motorcyclist opened fire on security guards, injuring three Ziaul Haq, Salimullah and Qasim Shah — as well as three employees of the nearby hotel.

Tragically, a hotel staff member, Mir Haider, later succumbed to his injuries, while Nazirullah and Nadeem were also injured.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attacker, wearing a helmet and armed with a Kalashnikov, fled the scene with a bag of money.

In a separate incident, robbers targeted the Allied Bank in G-14, injuring security guard Fazal and making off with millions of rupees.
