A fan of the theater has embarked on a mission to perform good deeds in honor of her friend who died in 2023.

Lydia Greatrix – also known as Theatrical Lydia – is currently touring the UK tour of stage musical Come From Away and will be performing acts of kindness at stops along the way.

She and friend Laura – both from Wolverhampton – were due to do the tour together, but after Laura’s death, Mrs Greatrix set out to complete the mission in her memory.

Since then, he’s been up and down the country setting up food banks, organizing litter picks and beach cleans, buying supplies for a primary school and donating to animal shelters.

For the Wolverhampton leg of the production, she teamed up with the Grand Theater to support the Good Shepherd charity.

Ms Greatrix, 25, who now lives in Colchester, started her tour in Leicester in March, but it is the last stop on the tour that means the most to her.

“Having been born in Wolverhampton and brought up in Hinstock in North Shropshire, I’m really excited to see the tour coming home to the city,” she said.

“We have heard all about the vitally important work Good Shepherd delivers through its food range and various support services.

“I’m sure viewers who attend Come from Away will be keen to show their support and ‘pay it forward’ to help people facing difficult times in the city.”

Come From Away tells the true story of how Newfoundlanders in Canada showed kindness to 7,000 stranded airline passengers after US airspace was closed following the 9/11 attacks.

Ms Greatrix said this inspired her and her friend to watch the production and carry out their own good deeds.

Audiences in Wolverhampton are being invited to bring donations of new socks and underwear to Come From Away shows, which will be given to the charity.

People are also invited to make financial donations to the charity.
