WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metro Transit Police Department said it is investigating after a boy was shot during a robbery at Gallery Place Saturday night.

According to the department, just before 11 p.m., several teenagers were involved in a “possible robbery” aboard a Green Line train at Gallery Place.

During the robbery, one of the suspects allegedly shot the boy. The applicants took him to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

After the shooting, trains were briefly single-tracked as officers investigated.

Around the same time, police said a large group of “disorderly” teenagers were in the Navy Yard area. Out of an abundance of caution, the New Jersey entrance was closed to maintain order at Navy Yard Station.

The entrance reopened about 30 minutes later after the crowd had dispersed. Police have not said the incidents are related.

MTPD encourages anyone with information about the shooting to call 202-962-2121.
