A woman has died in a freak accident at an airfield in Kansas after walking into the back of an active plane propeller while taking photos.

Just before 3 p.m., Saturday, October 26, Sedgwick County dispatch received a report of a crash at Cook Airfield in Derby, Kansas, KAKE News first reported.

Derby is a city in Sedgwick County and is Wichita’s largest suburb.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a woman, believed to be in her 30s, who had been seriously injured while taking photos of people getting on and off planes when she came back into an active propeller of a plane, KAKE reported.

The woman was transported to a local hospital in extremely critical conditionKAKE reported, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The authorities are currently investigating the incident.

According to a GoFundMe page, the victim has been identified as 37-year-old Amanda Gallagher.

“Amanda Gallagher was gentle, adventurous, creative and beautiful inside and out. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed,” a statement on the page read.

The Cook Airfield has shared its condolences to the family and friends of Amanda Gallagher, who died following an accident at the airfield on Saturday afternoon. (Cook Airport – K50)

“On October 26, Amanda passed away in a very sad accident while doing what she loved, skydiving and taking pictures!” the statement continued. “As her family works through this tragic accident, they could use your help to cover funeral expenses. Please consider helping them and keep them all in your prayers.”

Cook Airfield released a statement on Facebook expressing condolences to the victim’s family and friends.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young lady who died yesterday following a tragic plane propeller accident at Cook Airfield. I wasn’t there when it happened, so I won’t speculate on what could or should have happened. it happened otherwise, please keep her family, friends and Air Capital Drop Zone family in your prayers and thoughts,” the statement read.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office for a statement, but did not immediately hear back.
