A Denham Springs man died in a crash Sunday morning

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A Denham Springs man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Sunday morning, Oct. 27, in Tangipahoa Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

Authorities say the crash, which happened on LA Hwy 1064 at Addison Road around 11 a.m., claimed the life of 31-year-old Brandon Scott McAlister.

According to officials, a motorcycle driven by McAlister was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on LA Hwy 1064. At the same time, another motorcycle was also traveling westbound in the eastbound lane following McAlister.

Police simultaneously say a Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound in the westbound lane of LA Hwy 1064 toward Addison Road. Before reaching the intersection of LA Hwy 1064 and Addison Road, the Corolla began to slow down and veer left. Officials say as a result, McAlister’s motorcycle struck the back of the Corolla, causing him to be thrown from the motorcycle. His motorcycle then hit the other motorcycle in the eastbound lane, causing its rider to be ejected as well.

McAlister suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the second motorcycle suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Routine toxicology tests are being conducted on the drivers of both motorcycles as part of the ongoing investigation. The driver of the Corolla was properly restrained, uninjured and provided a breath sample that tested 0.000 g%.
