A class 9 student of an international school in Pune, Maharashtra allegedly attacked his classmate by slitting his throat after a minor argument over the organization of the annual Day. The 15-year-old student victim filed an FIR at the local police station on Wednesday.

According to an Indian Express report, the police have detained the 14-year-old on charges of attempt to murder under Sections 109 and 351 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police explained that the accused boy, in a fit of rage, allegedly attacked the complainant boy from behind inside a classroom and cut his throat with a piece of glass around 2.30 pm on Tuesday, leaving him injured. In addition, the accused allegedly threatened to kill the complainant.

Teachers and school staff rushed the injured student to the hospital. Later, a team, led by Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare, visited the crime scene. The accused was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and later sent to a house of observation as directed by the JJB.

Police revealed that no teacher was present in the classroom at the time as preparations for the Annual Day were underway elsewhere in the school premises. Assistant Superintendent of Police Ketaki Chavan said the victim’s condition is stable, while Investigating Officer Umesh Rokade confirmed that further investigations are underway.

A Delhi woman slits the throat of her 9-day-old baby

In a separate incident, a 22-year-old woman from Delhi’s Mundka area slit the throat of her nine-day-old baby because she did not want the child, police said on Saturday (July 27). The incident came to light on Thursday when a man, Govinda, reported to the police, saying his wife had slit their daughter’s throat.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Jimmy Chiram said a team was sent to the couple’s residence in Baba Haridas Colony, Tikri in Mundka. Upon arrival, the team discovered the dead child in a room on the second floor, while the mother was in another room.

“During the sustained interrogation, the woman revealed that she did not want to have a baby girl, that’s why she killed her,” Chiram said, news agency PTI reported.
