3 Arrested in Warren County Deaths, Victims Identified

SMITHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Three people have been arrested in connection with the deaths of three others at a home in Warren County, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities responded to a residence in the 900 block of Merry Oaks Road around 8:50 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a dead man inside the home.

When police arrived at the scene, they found two other people dead in an outbuilding that was being used as a residence adjacent to the home.

The three victims were identified as the homeowner, William Piechocniski, Dana Ramsden and Otis Hawks II.

WCSD said when they discovered the scene, they immediately called in investigators from the District Attorney’s Office, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security.

Police said they quickly received tips in the case that led them to locations in Nashville and Memphis. Investigators also found that evidence of property belonging to one of the deceased persons was found in both towns, leading them to the identities of the suspects.

On Thursday, WCSD said investigators received a tip that the suspects, identified as Jessica Root, Hannah Rose and Caleb Brookins, were in DeKalb County. Police were able to arrest Root without incident in Smithville. Rose was also located in Smithville, but while attempting to flee, she struck a Homeland Security officer with her vehicle. WCSD said shots were fired during this incident.

13th Judicial District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway confirmed that District Attorney Chris Stanford allegedly fired the shots.

An extensive search led officers to Brookins. He was found and arrested by law enforcement, police said.

Brookins and Root were charged with three counts of criminal homicide and are being held in the Warren County Jail. Rose was charged with felony evading arrest and aggravated assault in DeKalb County and is being held at the DeKalb County Jail.

The TBI is investigating the incident at the request of AG Dunaway.
