FORT SMITH — One person was injured in an attempted robbery that Fort Smith police are now investigating.

The incident occurred at a residence in the 3300 block of North 27th Street, according to a news release from the Fort Smith Police Department.

The victim was meeting with several people regarding the sale of a personal item, police said in a Wednesday evening news release.

“The situation escalated,” according to police, and the victim received a non-life-threatening injury.

Police said preliminary information indicates this is an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public. No arrests have been made.
