McNairy resident speaks out after ‘horrific’ dog attack

“If I turned around and tried to get this one off me, they would attack me from the front. If I turned to the front, they would attack me from behind. When he came towards me trying to help me, they became even more aggressive,” Harmon said.

She says a dog bit her calf and eventually says she was dragged into a nearby ditch.

“She came and grabbed my hand and ‘Get up, get up, get up’ and I couldn’t because of that leg. When I finished (reaching out) that she had my arm up, they put me on my side,” Harmon said.
Harmon claims the dogs have caused problems with other residents in the area.

She says a neighbor returning home saved her life.

“He was trying to shout at them to go home, calling their names and they went after me. They were for me. I never did anything to those dogs because I avoid them and I’m a dog person,” Harmon added.

After the attack, Harmon says her neighbor was advised to quarantine the dogs for 10 days.

“It’s not fair that he’s still running with her. I was in the hospital from Saturday to Monday. The neighbors told me that she goes on this road with the four who are aggressive, because they are the ones who follow her, on Sunday,” she said.

Harmon says he has had trouble sleeping since the attack.

“When I sleep, I can sleep for an hour and that’s what I dream about. I wake up shaking with a cold sweat and just a panic attack and then I’m up for the rest of the night because I don’t want to go back to sleep dreaming the dream,” Harmon said.

Harmon says he contacted the McNairy County Sheriff’s Department.

They advise that anyone contact the sheriffs office to let them know of any shelters that will be taking in these dogs.

The McNairy County Sheriff’s Department contact is (731) 645-1004.
