WHITE PINE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The White Pine Police Department said an investigation is underway after a five-year-old child died Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, officers from the WPPD, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, White Pine Fire Department and Jefferson County EMS went to Harrison Road just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a five-year-old child with special needs in cardiac arrest. .

WPPD said officers arrived on the scene within two minutes of the call to find the child dead.

The child was then taken to the Knox County Forensic Center for an autopsy, WPPD said.

Officials said one person was arrested at the scene on charges unrelated to the child’s death.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
