The hearing process for a woman accused of attempted murder, arson

RED BAY, Ala. (WHNT) — A motion hearing has been set for a woman charged with attempted murder in April, according to court documents.

On Nov. 13, court documents show that a Franklin County circuit judge set a hearing for Anna Leigh Allen for March 18, 2025.

Allen was arrested on April 17 and charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree attempted arson and attempted murder. She is currently in the Franklin County Jail.

Allen’s indictment says she entered the victim’s home with a hammer, hit the victim in the head with the hammer, then set the bed on fire while the victim was in bed.

On September 26, Allen, through her attorney, asked the court to dismiss the indictment, saying it was not “certain enough to inform the defendant of the charges against her” and that it was “so vague as to be unconstitutional . standards’ to inform Allen of the charge against her.

Allen also has a court hearing set for Jan. 9, 2025, documents show.
