LOWER MORELAND TWP., Pa. (WPVI) — Several people were injured when a school bus and a pickup truck collided in Lower Moreland Twp., Montgomery County.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of ​​County Line Road and Buxmont Road.

Helicopter 6 was overhead as emergency crews worked to rescue the truck driver who was pinned under the school bus.

It took crews more than an hour to get the man to safety. Police say he was taken to an area hospital, but there was no word on his condition.

Officials said an “activity bus” was transporting students from the Lower Moreland Township School District at the time of the crash.

Police say at least one student suffered minor injuries.

“As some may know, one of our activity buses was involved in an accident this evening while completing the late bus run. Fortunately, the bus was mostly empty at the time of the accident, with only a few of our students on the bus. ,” the school district said in a statement.

School counselors will be available to students on Friday.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The road will likely remain closed for several hours.
