The investigation will determine if the deadly Bethel Twp. the shooting was justified | western-berks county

BETHEL TWP., Pa. – An investigation is underway in northwest Berks County to determine if a fatal shooting is justified.

“It’s an area where I would say there’s a little bit of criminal activity,” Berks County District Attorney John Adams said.

It’s an area now turned into the scene of a homicide investigation.

“However, I still think it’s a very safe community,” Adams said.

He advises the people of Bethel Township to know that there is no danger as investigators work hard to get to the bottom of a deadly scene at a home in the area.

“Hopefully we can make a decision in the next 48 hours as to whether or not someone should be charged,” Adams said.

Police were called to a home in the 1000 block of Little Mountain Road just after 7 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a shooting.

“I would call this somewhat of a domestic burglary type incident, and so there is no need to charge anyone at this time,” Adams said.

He said one person is dead and the victim is the homeowner’s son.

The shooter is said to be cooperating with police as the investigation continues to determine if the shooting was justified.

“I hope this investigation will be completed in the next day or so,” Adams said.

Berks County detectives and Bethel City police are leading the investigation.

No arrests have been made and no one is facing charges at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
