Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson isn’t spending much time reflecting on his tenure with the Golden State Warriors.

“That chapter is over,” Thompson told Andscape Marc J. Spears after a 122-120 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. “I’m in the middle of trying to win here. There’s no point in missing out when we have such a great opportunity here to be great. There’s no point in looking back…”

“I have to look forward to it,” he added. “I have to try to do my best here.”

Thompson will return to the Bay Area for the first time as an opposing player Tuesday night when Dallas travels to face Golden State.

The five-time All-Star spent the first 13 years of his career with the Warriors, winning four championships as a member of the organization. Along with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, Thompson helped form one of the most accomplished trios in NBA history.

The shooter ranks 6th on Golden State’s all-time scoring list ranking and No. 4 on the team’s games played list.

Thompson joined the Mavericks as part of a sign-and-trade agreement in July, receiving a three-year, $50 million contract from Dallas.

In 10 appearances to open his 2024-25 campaign, he averaged 13.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game on 41.8/35.4/100 shooting. The Mavericks are 11th in the Western Conference standings with a 5-5 record.

Thompson revealed that he hasn’t kept in touch with Curry and Green following the change of scenery.

“Not really,” Thompson said, according to Spears. “I’ll see them when I see them. That’s it.”

He will receive a video tribute from the organization and Curry is also expected to say a few words at center court before the game.

Tip-off for Tuesday’s contest is at 10pm ET.
